Review of Samsara (2011) by Jurgen M — 25 Aug 2012
My experience was unique, so donâ(TM)t take this as a literal review. I saw it at the Cinerama in Seattle, in 4K, and the director, co-director and composer were there for a Q&A with the audience.
This film, like Baraka, like Chronos, forces you to absorb the minute details of a shot, to follow your own narrative with the visuals being dished up. Some shots have almost no movement and yet speak in a loud voice as your eye engages with the tactile subtleties before you.
Rich color, deep music, lots of unspoken social commentary awaken moods that may not often see the light of day.
