Review of Saludos Amigos (1942) by Sergio B — 28 Jun 2008
Following the release of BAMBI, the Walt Disney Studios fell into a period of turmoil. Stripped of its talent and financial resources, the animation facility had to look for cheaper methods to produce features, and so they cobbled together this anthology of four cartoon shorts dealing with South American culture.
These cartoons are certainly funny and charming (especially the one involving Goofy), but otherwise SALUDOS AMIGOS is little more than a curiosity. It also has the distinction of being the shortest Disney feature ever--clocking in at no more than 47 minutes.
