Review of Resolution (2013) by Mike Q — 03 Oct 2013
Just saw this on Netflix and loved it.
The question of viewer expectation and genre convention is the central conceit of the film. Over the years deconstructions of horror films have become almost as common place (and tired) as the movies they subvert, but this, one of the most clever I've seen, shows that it is still possible to make an interesting genre deconstruction, in large part because it is such an effective drama (filled with genuine humor) about two friends.
