Review of Quintet (1979) by Chris O — 13 Jun 2008
This postapocalyptic tale of a world beset by ice certainly looks like a Robert Altman film, and gets points for that: his futuristic vision of a second ice age is ultimately compelling enough that itâ??s worth a look.
Unfortunately, character becomes secondary to concept, which is disturbingly un-Altman. This film totally had me for the first half hour but starts to fall apart after that. There are interesting ideas in here but it doesnâ??t all gel together well enough to call it a great movie; more just an.
.. interesting one.
