Review of Quest for Fire (1981) by Storma S — 16 Mar 2006
My all time favorite film. Director Jean-Jacques Annaud is brilliant! He puts his actors through hell with difficult and freezing locations, untrained lion/tiger cross animals, unrully elephants trampling their sets, poisonous snakes, anthrax, and searing hot African locations, but it was worth it.
The film still stands after 20 some years. Annaud loves actors and it shows. This is Rae Dawn Chong's best performance. This is filmmaking at its finest. Ron Perlman, one of my all time favorite actors steals the show as usual.
