Review of Putney Swope (1969) by Erik G — 11 Jan 2010
Somewhat dated, but lots of fun in its irreverent 60s-ness. Putney Swope (body by Arnold Johnson, black Dalek voice by Robert Downey) is a great character, a human buzzsaw who is taking on everything existing.
High points: Antonio Fargas and his response to the flasher, Swope dressing up as Castro, his interview in the car ("What do you think of the Panthers?"), all the ads, and the explanation of beer.
Strange movie connection courtesy of the IMDB: the same actress who plays Swope's maid was the lead in Andrezj Wajda's Everything For Sale earlier that year.
