Review of Psych: The Movie (2017) by Steven V — 18 Dec 2017
As a long time fan of the series, I was anticipating this TV movie return for the show and see the characters back in action again. Unfortunately I was more disappointed than excited when I actually saw the movie.
The jokes don't land as much as they did, the chemistry between actors/characters isn't that strong anymore and as a narrative it is more than weak. Ofcourse I know this is a made for TV movie and the standards are different, but when a movie like this is lesser than the average episode, that's not good.
The movie drags too much, too many narrative jumps don't make sense and make you feel like you missed parts of the movie. This is by far one of the weaker scripts Roday and Franks have penned, and the direction of Franks is shoddy to say the least.
I keep hoping for another better return from Psych, 'cause this wasn't what it should or could have been.
