Review of Pontypool (2009) by Stephanie S — 29 Aug 2009
Watched this just now. Brilliantly original horror film with a great B movie feel. Think Tremors, or M Night Shyamalan at his best.
The idea of language being the monster just blows my mind, As ever with low budget filmaking, they have to substitute great ideas in lieu of being able to spend money on special effects or a large cast. The dialogue is fantastic from beginning to end, They keep the tension raised, merely through the interaction of the cast.
Given the nature of this film, you will see lots of negative reviews but don't let them put you off seeing a truly intelligent horror movie.
Highly recommended.
