Review of Philomena (2013) by Chantal V — 26 Apr 2014
This is one of those films where you just don't want to see or anything after for a while - you don't want it to be spoiled by flicking through channels or another film or whatever you usually do after you see a film at home.
You just want to keep it rolling until after the credits and stay in the moment. To honour it, or something. What a gem this is. And how unbelievable is the achievement to let some wonderful British humour shine through in the most dramatic of stories.
Now, the story is right up my alley from the view of the church once again doing the most horrific of things in god's name, but apart from that, it's a marvel of beautiful filming and just immaculate acting.
And I forgot about my little crush on Steve Coogan. He just keep getting better.
