Review of Pearl Jam Twenty (2011) by Jack G — 05 Oct 2011
Cameron Crowe had one job to do - make me wanna go right home after a Pearl Jam movie and listen to all their songs again. Not only do I wanna do that, I wanna see them live again. Twice. And jump on stage with Eddie and chug a jug of wine. Aside from the music it's just a gobsmackingly interesting documentary on a group of artists (yes, artists) who don't fuck around and have somehow through some crappy times and some personal squabbles made it out as one of a handful of bands that have integrity in modern music. Like Bob Dylan, basically, you come to see them, if you want, they don't come to see you outright like other pop acts. That's rare, and Crowe does a wonderful job of giving a history, context and gaze at what they do.
How much difference does it make?
