Review of Parasomnia (2008) by Al M — 03 Sep 2011
From the director of such garbage as The House on Haunted Hill remake and Feardotcom, Parasomnia is a surprisingly stylish, creepy, and original horror film. Beautifully twisted dream imagery together with a genuinely creepy mesmerist/psycho serial killer elevate Parasomnia beyond the common fare of supernatural slasher films.
The dreams sequences are both beautiful and truly scary, and the film's villain emerges from his manacled and muted psycho ward patient into a brilliant yet malevolent madman who sculpts his victims deaths into works of art.
Parasomnia never quite reaches the level of true greatness, but it continuously skirts the line and leaves the viewer with some indelible images of horror.
