Review of One Man's Hero (1999) by Rebecca D — 15 Jun 2007
This excellent movie tells the story of the Batallon de San Patricio, (St. Patrick's Battalion). Before the Mexican-American War, religious and ethnic prejudice could be seen in the U.S. Army. Many Irish Catholics soldiers were victims of the protestant majority.
A group of Irish immigrants deserted to Mexico. This movie delivers a different twist to the Mexican that has a touch of Irish flavor. In this movie, "One man's hero is another man's traitor.
".
