Is it possible for a movie about a 16 year old with terminal cancer to be uplifting and life affirming and funny? Yes, Absolutely. This movie is amazing. It uses the rather simple premise and takes it in a completely unexpected direction.
The characters are well written and multi faceted (save 2 or 3), and the plot really takes a backseat to the character development. The plot still moves and a lot happens, but the character development is amazing and spellbinding.
Absolutely a must see!
