Review of One Body Too Many (1944) by John P — 28 Nov 2008
I typically enjoy old mansion murder stories, but this one put me to sleep for some reason. While there are quite a few amusing bits, the movie just did not quite click with me. I found Jack "Tin Man" Haley's cowardice and buffoonery charming and equally grating on the nerves. Bela Lugosi also appears, but all he does is serve coffee with a wry scowl on his face.
The picture quality of this print is so dark I had a hard time seeing anything half the time. I got this as part of Horror Classics, Vol. 13 16-movie set. I will give it another watch when I get that "50 Horror Classics" set even though I would hardly say it qualifies as a classic.
