Beautiful romance that you don't even notice is a romance because you're concentrating on trying to find out whether Ondine is a fish/mermaid/selkie or not. Danny had decided the answer for himself in the first minute - "No fins, not a mermaid".
Luckily she was also a hot potential mermaid so he continued to watch it after "solving the mystery for us".
