Review of O.J.: Made in America (2016) by Dan K — 07 Mar 2017
This documentary is an epic masterpiece about O.J. Simpson, his rise to fame, the violent murder of his ex-wife and her friend, the ensuing trial, and his sleazy decline. The film collects so many different perspectives on his very well-documented life that you end of feeling almost as if you have experienced it along with him, though true understanding of the Juice eludes the film.
That's okay because this movie takes fascinating themes like race, wealth, celebrity, and sports and plays with them like catnip. It's something like 9 hours long but it's never boring and the way it sort of melts down the genres of biography, crime thriller, courtroom drama, sports film, tragedy, and comedy into some kind of brand new filmic alloy is just amazing.
