Review of No Good Deed (2014) by Virginia S — 13 Jan 2008
If there is a single glaring flaw in this modern-day adaptation of a Dashiell Hammett story, it's that the film too closely mirrors one of Hammett's stories, in all the wrong ways. The other thing, is that they decided to give Samuel L.
Jackson nothing interesting to do. Stellan Skarsgard and Doug Hutchison ham things up nicely as the bad guys, keeping this from becoming completely unbearable, but unfortunately they are absent for much of the film, where Jackson and femme fatale Milla Jovovich engage in uninspired sexual banter.
