At the end you'll say 'wtf did I just watch?'. It feels like an absurdist work and the protagonists may as well be an animated version of Vladamir and Estragon. Through that lens it does alright.
The cringe-factor is likely intentional, the lack of logic and completely arbitrary plot devices will put some people off but I think it fits in well.
