Review of Nazarín (1959) by Zhanyi J — 02 Oct 2010
A Jesus Christ-like priest lives in abject poverty and renounces worldly possessions in a Mexican town in 1900. He moves from town to town following the teachings of Christ, but his good intentions lead to violence and death and others bully, assault and ridicule him for his naivete or unwillingness to compromise.
Is the priest an innocent floundering in a world filled with sin, or is the world rejecting him simply becase he highlights their sins?
