Review of Navajo Joe (1966) by John-Robert W — 03 Jun 2008
In Italian spaghetti westerns it is the two Sergio's (Leone and Corbucci) that reign supreme.
In this film Corbucci (who was a much more rugged and less lyrical filmmaker than his counterpart Leone) takes a simple revenge tale (a Navajo Indian played by Burt Reynolds sets out to kill the bandits that murdered his wife and the rest of his village) and adds a few more elements (such as a train robbery) to spice things up a bit.
Like most of Corbucci's films, it's just a bit thin but still enjoyable enough to recommend.
Boasts one of the all-time great Ennio Morricone scores, which was mined heavily by Quentin Tarantino for his Kill Bill films.
