Review of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls (2013) by Duncan P — 09 Sep 2015
Naturally as a fan of the show, I can't really objectively assess this, but then, on the other hand, I wouldn't be watching this were I not.
Manages to successfully meld the quintessential essence of "Friendship is Magic" (yes, that includes some of the friendship-moral cheesiness) with a touch of the attitude of "Glee" towards high school, ultimately providing a sort-of hyper-positive interpretation of a typically American high schooling experience, with a number of typically catchy songs one gets from Ingram (especially the song commonly known as the 'cafeteria song' - I believe the actual title thereof is "Equestria Girls").
Highly enjoyable and, in my humble opinion, a worthy addition to the canon, having successfully made a Pony movie in a new, semi-familiar setting.
Also, plenty of fanservice in there for your hardcore bronies - cameos, in-jokes, and a few slightly more anime-fanservice-inspired prods too.
