Review of My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) by Madeline M — 28 Nov 2007
The way the film has dated doesn't matter - treat it as a period piece instead. Somehow, it manages to mix everything up and create a wonderful film. My Beautiful Laundrette works in a heightened reality, with a view toward creating believable personalities despite some strange events.
What happens doesn't matter as much as who it happens to. No one is completely good. The performances, however, are universally excellent.
