Review of My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) by Heather M — 17 May 2008
A young Daniel Day-Lewis licking the neck of another man is pure bliss. This film is exceptional as it is able to deal with a lot of themes and conflicts (sexuality, race, class, politics, etc.) without forcing any of them or putting something out of place.
Nothing is entirely resolved in the end but this film doesn't need an ending where every secret should be revealed to the other characters or every loose end should be tied up.
