Classic 70's Bollywood. A newer version of a Devdas-like love story. The film indeed has a strange Sufi feel to it, with Kader Khan as the Sufi saint in the coverstan, Rekha as the thwaif, Amitabh as Sikander, and the film's title as well.
Amazing soundtrack with its mix of slow love ballads, disco pop, and mujrah #'s - all compulsary music for that decade. One of Bachchan's best performances to date.
