Review of Mr. Jones (2013) by Grant H — 07 Nov 2014
Bad movie. While it gets points for style and some pretty creepy moments, it loses the rest in plot and pacing. The movie is slow for the majority, trying to build suspense, but all it does is bore the audience.
While the found footage feel is cool and a bit creepy at first, the film switches to normal film camerawork, right before it could truly wear thin. When it does change over, the camerawork is even shakier than most found footage outings.
And right when the plot gets interesting, the filmmaker (Mueller) throws a bad "twist" ending at us. The performances are surprisingly good, the leads giving good genuine performances, it's just a shame they didn't have a better movie to work with.
