Review of Mother Night (1996) by Private U — 01 Mar 2009
To my knowledge the only movie of Kurt Vonnegut's works. This movie is immensely powerful, backed up by big name after big name and yet it's fallen into the depths of the movie bin. The story itself is heartfelt, amazing, and makes you question your own identity and the identity you presume.
The main character was an American Spy in the Nazi aristocracy as a radio announcer espousing antisemitism with hidden codes. But can he live with himself and the things he said? The people he empowered? Is he among the worst men alive by proxy?
