Creatively done, Cheadle did more with the cards he was dealt than we could ever hope for. Burdened with being forced to cast a white actor with a known name in order to get money to make the pic, and knowing that they would greatly disserve Miles if they attempted a linear approach to his life story, Cheadle and Baigelman riff on a story centered on the lull in Mile's music from 1975-1980 and made up a story and a movie that Cheadle felt that Mile's would have liked to have been in.
