Review of Michael Collins (1996) by Joseph W — 18 Jul 2007
One of my top 5 favorite movies. I love the time period and setting in which it takes place (early 20th century Ireland)and Liam Neeson is one of my favorite actors. He truly shines as Michael Collins because it's not often he gets to let his Irish-self out on film.
Supporting actor Alan Rickman did a great job as Eamon De Valera however I think Aidan Quinn's character is a little dry and Julia Roberts doesn't even belong in this movie imo. Aside from that though, the action is great, the story is untouchable because it's true, and the dialogue is just down right memorable.
I'm glad I found this one, the fact that it's relatively old almost made me miss it. If u have any interest in Irish history at all or liam neeson, see this movie.
