Review of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) by Bob O — 16 Oct 2007
The world's biggest Heavy Metal band bares it all in this "warts n' all" documentary from prolific filmmakers Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky. Shortly after bassist Jason Newsted quit Metallica in early '01, the remaining band members commenced work on a new record and hired Berlinger and Sinofsky to document the recording process.
..as you'll see in this film, sometimes, things don't always work out the way you might thing they do. Metallica, famously close and open to its rabid longtime fanbase, bares its collective soul as the band literally falls to pieces before the cameras.
Can they get it together, finish their record, and reclaim their throne at the top of the Heavy music heap? One of the most important Rock movies of all time for sure!
