Review of Medium Cool (1969) by Mike F — 11 Jul 2008
5 stars cause you will never see anything like this again... for the time, the city... surreal mix of documentary and fiction. As quoted (paraphrasing) by a more eloquent reviewer than myself: "Real people in fake situations, fake people in real situations.
" It's a challenge with every scene to tell what from what... until Yellowy wanders the caught-on-film spectacle of the riot. Thought there was a waft of a cute story between the cameraman-widow-kid.
There were parts-affecting in that. I almost whipped a bottle at the tv during the ending. The movie had already made it's point, no need for such theatrics.
