Review of Mean Creek (2004) by Chris N — 12 Jul 2012
Estes' uncomfortably riveting glimpse into the casual cruelty of youth is fascinating, haunting & smart. It has some mesmerizing performances & a fantastic script filled with some of the most realistic dialogue written in quite some time.
The film spends most of it's time focusing on character development rather than suspense which is what makes it work on being somewhat of a multiple character study.
