Review of Me, Myself and Mum (2013) by Linda B — 13 Oct 2013
Fun and undemanding watch but there is substance behind the froth. An interesting adaptation from a one-man show which doesn't hide its origins but wears it with pride. There are moments of laugh-out-loud but also quieter, poignant moments, with a fluid narrative running through the film which makes it such an enjoyable ride.
My only quip is the final revelation which I feel doesn't sit that well with me. I cannot argue with it as it is the writer's autobiographical experience but there is something that nags me (which I can't discuss without spoilers).
The film, just like its subject matter is probably uncategorisable but certainly original.
