Review of Maurice (1987) by Demetrius M — 10 Aug 2010
Again, the Merchant Ivory team gets it right, though there is a couple of items from the book I would have liked to have seen. Still, it helped launch Hugh Grant's career (though some out there would prefer if it hadn't) because he does a great job in this film.
The entire cast is brilliant with a great scene with Ben Kingsley playing the American doctor the Maurice goest to for help. I so admire how Merchant / Ivory would use their actors from other films in diverse ways, ala repertory theater.
