Review of Mary Poppins (1964) by Dan B — 29 Aug 2018
Mary Poppins is a work of art. In many ways that is meant in a literal sense. Pl Travers obviously disagreed, but this movie is the beacon that accurately summarizes the term Disney Magic. I loved this movie as a child and I love as an adult, and after showing my kids the movie, I tried to allow them the freedom to make their own determination without my bias and they loved it too.
Movies of the calibre of Mary Poppins are extremely rare. When one asks the experts for their greatest movie of all time picks, they spout movies like citizen Kane or gone with the wind, but for me, Mary Poppins and The Wizard of oz are far superior and deserve their rightful place in the top 3 movies of all time.
