Review of Martin (Hache) (1997) by Ryan D — 12 Aug 2007
The more I watch this, the less I like it, but I REALLY REALLY liked it on first viewing. It purports to tell the story of a father and son struggling to understand each other, but it is really about the relationship between generations of Argentinians - expatriates and those that stayed.
Roth is, as always, genius. Luppi, so awesome in The Devil's Backbone, also wonderful, but this movie, I feel, belongs almost entirely to the energy and vitality of Eusebio Poncela.
