Review of Love! Valour! Compassion! (1997) by Tim V — 07 Sep 2007
I wish this movie was better than it is. It's about a group of friends who are impacted by AIDS, and the subject matter has so much potential to be moving and perhaps even haunting. In my opinion, the story and the writing are both reasonably well done (well, mostly, anyway), but the acting is absolutely hit and miss.
Jason Alexander does an exceptional job portraying an over-the-top "flaming" gay man. Other actors pull off their roles decently as well. But at least two of the actors in the movie come across as rejects from a high school play.
They make certain scenes almost unwatchable, which is a shame.
