Review of Little White Lies (2010) by Andy W — 20 Sep 2011
What starts as a cheap, sex-loaded and foul-mouthed flick turns gradually into a sensitive movie about friendship, love and honesty. The main characters are unlikeable at first, but as we get to know them better we recognise their faults as ours and we finally get to feel for them.
The performances are very good, but the actors are not always helped by the script, which veers from the comic to the dramatic, sometimes even in the same scene. The movie is long, but it could have been longer, and it's a pity that some of its characters are not explored further.
There's however a lot of subtext in the plot that makes everyone complex and interesting. Although Little White Lies was a huge success in France and the cast is A-level, for me this movie was an unexpected little gem.
