Review of Little White Lies (2010) by Ollie W — 09 Oct 2011
Unbelievably panned by critics, Canet's beautifully light hearted ensemble piece is a landmark in collaborative French Cinema. Created using Canet's gorgeously witty script and contributions from the superb cast themselves, this works as both an examination of adult friendship, a deconstruction of hopes, fears, marriage, sexuality and relationships within a tightly wound friendship group and most poignantly, the impact of a great unforeseen tragedy in these character's self absorbed and idiosyncratic lives.
It might be crass and indulgent at times, but this is so well acted, so often completely hilarious and at times incredibly touching, the unbelievably attractive Canet, again produces a piece of cinema that is so self assured and affectionate, you won't believe such a tasty young man could make it.
