Review of Life in a Day (2011) by Hazem N — 26 Jul 2011
I could not possibly begin to list everything that is amazing and that I loved about this film. It is so real and human. Seeing all the different individuals/groups of people is truly a sight. It is better than a Natl.
Geo. documentary because the footage is from the people themselves, inviting us into their lives and world for a day-a morning, an afternoon, an evening, and a night. It is a series of autobiographies that capture the human elements.
The moments where it asks the many filmmakers questions such as 'What do you love?' and 'What are you scared of?', opens the door for some of the most personal and moving answers. The montages and music are sublime.
The use of the song 'A Day at a Time' in both happy and destructive moments is a beautiful juxtaposition. I hope to see this film nominated for and win Oscars. They would be greatly deserved.
