Review of Le Cercle Rouge (1970) by Marcus M — 30 Oct 2009
With each of Melville's films, he constantly raises the bar of cool style and hungry cold characters that are far more focused with their professional interests than personal intimacy of any kind. Melville has a natural feel for suspense - most of the time I sit in panic watching the images go by.
He holds you in a tight and claustrophobic grip from the first frame to the last.
