Review of Land and Freedom (1995) by Markandanna D — 21 Jan 2008
The story of a Liverpulian communist who left blighty to go and fight the fascists in the Spanish civil war. I particularly liked the inelquence of the "shall we collectivise" debate in the village - no well polished speeches as you'd expect in a hollywood movie.
The only thing I had problems with was the language. I can cope with subtitles, but I wish they'd also subtitled the Liverpulian, Irish and Spanish accents too.
