Review of Kolobos (1999) by Lee M — 09 Nov 2008
One of the best post-Scream slashers with a nice sense of dread and some stylish flourishes. Most of the acting isn't too bad, either, but Weber makes for a dull, unappealing lead. Linnea Quigley turns up in a useless "blink and you'll miss it" cameo that gives the great Scream Queen nothing to do.
Kolobos sure does lay on the atmosphere, which is something most all modern films lack. There's lots of susepense and creep outs, not to mention impressive lighting.
A horrible "twist" at the end is the films only true downfall, as the rest is a pretty fresh and original horror tale that should be appreciated more by horror fans.
If you haven't seen it, give it a whirl, you might just enjoy it! It's not your typical STV crap fest.
