Review of Knight of Cups (2015) by Calvin C — 28 Jun 2016
The last couple of Malick films follow the same format: voice overs, long tracking shots, minimal plot, abstract images, and an A-list cast. If you are not used to his style of filmmaking, then you never will be. Knight of Cups is better than his last outing To The Wonder, but it still feels a little hollow. I did like the music and the depiction of indulgence. Christain Bale and Cate Blanchett are great. Like all Malick's films, you will leave asking: "Why am I here?".
Grade: B-.
