Review of Katherine Ryan: In Trouble (2017) by Pop D — 07 Jun 2018

Katherine's special has a seamless flow from bit to bit and the most careful balance of serious and absurd topics. Her callback work is perfectly spaced and timed. She truly knows when a joke has the power to resonate, but is so eloquent with the finesse of storytelling that nothing is beating the audience over the head.

This is something quite lacking in the recent specials of people who would probably be considered her superior in comedy. I was so pleasantly surprised by how spectacular this special is when it was recommended on Netflix, and I in turn recommend it to all of my friends looking for hilarious, aware, and empowering female comedians.
