Review of Kansas City (1996) by Coxxie M — 14 Mar 2009
I'm not a Robert Altman fan. His films to me are boring to the extent that you could use them to torture someone with to death with their boring content! Nevertheless, I like Kansas City for two reasons.
#1. It was filmed in my second home town and around where I used to live and work. #2. Harry Belafonte's portrayal of gangster "Seldom Seen" is pure genius!! He's not just thug but a politically conscious thug! A friend told me when I visited Kansas City last time that their was actually a Black gangster named Seldom Seen.
he was called that because he was a hired gun who was on the payroll of certain wealthy elite who contracted him to kill certain people. He was very secretive and as his name implies was seldom seen. See this movie if you like period movies and love jazz!!
