Review of Kamchatka (2002) by Thomaz N — 24 Oct 2007
A family drama and a bildungsfilm, yes, but make no mistake, this is a deeply political movie. Compares favourably to Chile's "Machuca", which has a somewhat similar plot. "Kamchatka" found a new (and better) way to tell an old (and sad) story.
The Darin-Roth duo works extremely well, and only hearts of stone will not be moved by the final sequences.
