Review of Joshua (2007) by Beth P — 18 Jan 2008
I'm convinced most of the hate this film has received is a result of people wanting another version of The Omen. Unfortunately for them, this works much better as a study of character and family, the real horror and creepiness coming from the unpredictable behavior of two adults crumbling under the pressures of raising children in Manhattan.
Stop thinking "horror," right now, ignore the Hitchcock comparisons, drop your "creepy kid" preconceptions, and just consider this a drama. It will be better if you do.
