Review of Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1976) by Wezul S — 05 Nov 2014
The mundanity of the life of a widowed mother turned prostitute are displayed before the viewer in painstakingly real-time portrayal. an experimental & complex film that is both immersive & minimalist, it is apparently a feminist manifesto in certain cinematic circles.
however, I found the minutiae taxing, even if the ending did deliver a slight payoff. women can be complex in film without being this goddamn boring.
