Not only does the film inexplicably and awkward make use of horror elements, but its uneven script also makes the story feel both uncomfortable with and unrepresentative of modern times. It's a shame because at heart Jack and Diane is actually quite a sweet and tender story about first true love and the heartbreak of separation.
