Review of I've Heard the Mermaids Singing (1987) by Jennifer L — 13 Jun 2007
A personal favourite of mine, in part because of the numerous Toronto art-world references. The "man with video-camera head" sculpture that's featured in the film was created by Peter Dykhuis, and the paintings over which the curator Gabrielle and an art critic have an hilarious critique were created by John Abrams.
Sheila McCarthy's "employment challenged" character is endearingly quirky.
